Magic Books
I had the pleasure of working with the leading museum design firm in the U.S., Roto, on a unique multimedia interactive.
Roto designed an immersive experience in which a museum patron would choose from three stories to experience. They would place a book showing the story’s title onto a table in front of them. The action of opening the book would trigger a projector to show the story animated on and around the book. My team and I were asked to create these animations.
Roto provided the stories, technology, and creative direction. Below is my design work for the first story.

This project was a first for all involved, as it was a custom built exhibit. It took a little trial and error. After the challenges of the first video, the next two were smooth sailing.
Below, you can see we were able to view our work in progress to address minor issues. In the end, we’re all so happy with the result.
Final Style Frames!
Animation
Once we received final approval for style frames, I turned the files over to our animator, Evan Cooksey, and he worked his magic! Check out his reel to see some of the animations from the above case study and the two following animations we worked on.
